Consulting metallurgist Edward G. Nisbett, P.E., has received the 2005 Founding Committee Award from ASTM International Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys. A01 cited Nesbitt "In recognition of the highest level of leadership and exemplary contributions to ASTMs Founding Committee in the development and promotion of voluntary consensus standards."
Nisbett lives in Navarre, Fla.
An ASTM International member since 1971, Nisbett chairs Subcommittee A01.06 on Steel Forgings and Billets and is active in the work of many A01 groups. In addition, he is a member of Committee F16 on Fasteners and the Committee on Publications. For his contributions to standards development work, Nisbett was named an ASTM Fellow and given the Award of Merit in 1985.
In his career, Nisbett has focused on steel forging development and production as well as failure analysis. Before becoming a consultant, he was a senior staff metallurgist for National Forge Co. in Irvine, Pa., a chief metallurgist for the National Vulcan Insurance Co. in Manchester, England, and a development metallurgist for Murex Welding Processes in Waltham Cross, England.
A graduate of Glasgow University in Scotland, Nisbett is a chartered engineer, a fellow of ASM International, a life member of ASME International and a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
