ASTM International is continuing its sponsorship of Riverbend Education Center in Gladwyne, Pa. During the spring, Riverbend brings fun and educational programs to Conshohocken Elementary School for six weeks during its afterschool Nature Club. During the club’s meeting on May 1, Riverbend instructor Nina Bar-Giora taught second grade students about how animals camouflage themselves for protection, and later drew their own animals to illustrate how camouflage works.
In addition to the Nature Club, ASTM International sponsors several field trips each year for area elementary schools. Field trip and nature club activities coincide with the current curriculum of the classes.
