His work includes advising numerous doctoral and master’s candidates, managing the Center for Composite Materials, increasing participation in the center’s university-industry consortium, overseeing research, and writing or co-authoring hundreds of publications about composites science and technology.
In addition to ASTM International, Gillespie has served on several advisory and editorial boards, and been involved with the work of a number of industry associations. He is a fellow of the American Society for Composites, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering, and has received several honors and awards for his papers and research.
