Harry E. Lunt, retired corporate consulting engineer for Burns and Roe in Oradell, N.J., has been honored with the Founding Committee Award by ASTM International Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys. The award recognizes distinguished service by committee members.
Lunt lives in Mendham, N.J.
An ASTM International fellow and 1981 Award of Merit recipient, Lunt has worked on ASTM International Committees A01, D33 on Protective Coating and Lining Work for Power Generation Facilities, E30 on Forensic Sciences and G02 on Wear and Erosion. He joined ASTM International more than 35 years ago.
During his career, Lunt worked for U.S. Steel Corp. Westinghouse Research Laboratories and Worthington Corp. before joining the staff of Burns and Roe. He has more than 40 years of experience in metallurgy and materials engineering, including ferrous and nonferrous metals such as stainless steels and alloys; nonmetals such as organic resins, composites and graphite; and product failure analysis.
Outside ASTM International, Lunt is a member of ASM International, the American Welding Society, and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in chemistry from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y., where he was selected for the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and he earned his M.S. in metallurgy from Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.
